On Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. PT, NLGJA x TJA's book club will gather to discuss “And The Band Played On” by Randy Shilts at the NLGJA Convention. There will be two Book Club meetings held in September: one in-person at the #NLGJA24 Convention on Saturday, Sept. 7 and one on Zoom on Wednesday, September 25. Both meetings will be focused on "And the Band Play On: Politics, People, and the AIDS Epidemic," the groundbreaking 1987 book by Randy Shilts which chronicled the discovery of HIV/AIDS and the resulting government response. At the in-person meetup, attendees will hear from Michael Lee, author of "When the Band Played On: The Life of Randy Shilts, America's Trailblazing Gay Journalist." RSVP for that session here!
